On June 20, 2010 Dead by April played a show at the Swedish festival Pier Pressure in Gothenburg. Other bands/artists that played at the festival were among others HIM, 30 Seconds To Mars, Takida and the Sounds. 

Info

Pier Pressure started in 2007, and focuses on rock, emo and pop. The festival only lasted for a year, and it wasn't until 2010 Pier Pressure resurrected. The big attraction this years was of course HIM and 30 Seconds To Mars. 

Dead by April was announced to play the festival on February 12, 2010. It was the second and last show of the year in Gothenburg, the band's hometown. Dead by April played on the second largest stage, Red Stage. When the band hit the stage at 14:15 they were lucky to be spared from the rain that had been falling during the day.

Johan had some problems with his guitar on the show. During Angels of Clarity the guitar dissapeared completely for a brief moment. 

After the show Zandro and Marcus took a picture with the singer of 30 Seconds to Mars, Jared Leto.

Song analysis

In terms of material we have a pretty much. Dozens of songs have found there way out on Youtube, but still some key songs like Erased and In My Arms either wasn't played at all or just simply wasn't filmed. 

Unhateable

• Jimmie screamed the "free from..." part during both verse 1 and verse 2.
• Jimmie screamed the first and last line of the last double chorus.

Trapped

• Jimmie sang entire pre-chorus 1 clean, but screamed the ending of pre-chorus 2. 
• Jimmie screamed "leave behind" in the bridge.
• Jimmie screamed "all of my dreams are all I wanna see" in the last double chorus, but didn't scream the last "try not to wake me."

Angels of Clarity

• Johan had major problems with the guitar during the song. 
• Jimmie screamed the first "save me" in chorus 1. 
• Jimmie screamed the first half of the bridge.
• No sing-along parts. 

Falling Behind

Promise Me

• Jimmie screamed the ending of both pre-chorus 1 and 2. 
• Jimmie sang "as a time in your life" clean in all choruses!!

What Can I Say

• Jimmie screamed the "no matter how strong my feelings are" in chorus 1, unusual!
• Jimmie screamed the "hurting you" part at the end every chorus in the song. 
• Jimmie screamed the entire bridge.
• Zandro didn't go for any of the high notes in the bridge.

Stronger

Losing You

• Jimmie screamed "it's all that I'm breathing for" in both chorus 1 and 2. Zandro didn't sing it at all those times. 
• Jimmie didn't scream "now I can't make it through" during the sing-along part. 
• Jimmie screamed "all I have is you" before the last chorus.

Gothenburg band Dead by April was the second band to perform at this year's Pier Pressure in Gothenburg. With high energy they deliver heavy music on the next biggest stage.

When Dead By April gets up on stage the festival visitors have experienced a proper rain. The rain started to fall over the long queue outside the gates to proceeded in pouring rain. But when the band strides the stage at 14:15 the rain is gone.

The crowd in front of the stage is as enthusiastic as the band. They dance on during every song and listen to every single thing the band calls them to do; forming mosh pits and a wall of death's (where the audience separate from each other and finally run right into each other and then form one big mosh pit).

The concert is mixed with by big and less big hits. Promise Me, Angels of Clarity and What Can I Say among others, but it's during the last song Losing You as the audience burst out in sing-a-long.

I leave the concert satisfied. After seeing them earlier in the week on the main square in Varberg it was interesting to see how the band manages a festival gig. The conclusion is that they get along very well and the next time they will manage to play on the biggest stage, no doubt.
